Mechanic servicing a car A/C system at Al Bedaya Garage

Look, if your car’s blowing warm air in a UAE summer, you don’t need a lecture. You need cold air, fast. We do car AC service at Al Bedaya Garage every single day, and most jobs are back on the road the same afternoon.

What does a car AC service include?

A proper car AC service covers four things: a full system pressure check, a leak test, gas top-up or refill, and a cooling-performance check at the vent. That’s the short answer.

The longer answer? We start by reading the system pressure on both the high and low side. We see the same pattern in most cars over 4 years old, a slow refrigerant leak through an O-ring or a tired compressor seal. So just adding gas won’t fix it. We test for leaks first, find the source, then refill.

If you’ve never had your AC serviced, it’s usually 18-24 months overdue.

We also clean the condenser, check the cabin filter (it gets clogged with Ajman dust really fast), and run the AC for 20 minutes to make sure the cold air holds.

How much does car ac service cost in the UAE?

A standard AC service with full gas refill runs AED 150 to AED 350 at our workshop, depending on your car and refrigerant type. R134a is the cheaper one. R1234yf (newer cars 2017 onwards) costs more.

Compressor replacement, if you need it, is a different conversation. We’ve seen quotes from other workshops at AED 3,500 for a job we charge AED 1,800 for. So get a second opinion before you say yes to a big number.

We give you the price before we touch anything.

How long does car ac service take?

Most AC jobs are done in 2 to 4 hours. A simple gas refill is faster, sometimes under an hour. A full leak diagnosis with repair takes longer, maybe a full day if we have to drop the dashboard for an evaporator.

You can drop the car in the morning and pick it up after work. Most of our customers do exactly that.

When should I book car ac service?

Book it the moment the cold air starts feeling weak. Don’t wait for it to fail completely. Here’s the thing, by the time it’s blowing warm, the compressor’s already been working harder than it should, and that’s how compressors die.

Sound familiar?

The early signs you should watch for:

  • Air takes longer than usual to get cold after you start the car
  • A funny smell when you first switch the AC on (cabin filter)
  • Hissing or rattling sound from the dashboard
  • Water pooling on the passenger floor mat (drain blocked)
  • Windscreen fogs up faster than before

Any of these, get it checked. We’ll do the inspection free.

What we’ve learned from 25 years of UAE summers

We see this every June. Cars come in with a dead AC, owner says “it was fine last week.” Truth is, the AC’s been struggling for months. UAE heat doesn’t give your system a soft warning. It just hammers it until something breaks.

Trust us on this. Two things kill car AC systems in the UAE faster than anything else:

  1. Skipping the annual service
  2. Topping up gas without finding the leak

We had a Pajero owner last August (we get this regularly), AED 80 gas top-up from a roadside guy, came in 3 weeks later with a completely empty system and a damaged compressor. The whole job ended up at AED 2,400. A proper leak test would have cost him AED 200 in March.

Don’t be that customer.

FAQ

Do you handle both R134a and R1234yf refrigerants? Yes. We’ve got machines and recovery equipment for both. Some workshops still only do R134a. Ask before you book.

Will I lose my manufacturer warranty if you service my AC? No. We use genuine or OEM-approved refrigerants and parts. We’ll stamp your service book if your manufacturer asks for it.

What if it’s not the gas? What if it’s electrical? We do that too. Same workshop, same day. AC blowers, relays, climate control modules, we have the diagnostic tools on-site as part of our Car Electrical Service.

Can I just top up gas without a full service? You can, but we won’t do it without checking for leaks first. Adding gas to a leaking system is throwing money out the window.

Do you do AC service for German cars (Mercedes, BMW, Audi)? Yes. We have customers driving E-class, X5, A6 who’ve been with us for years. We have the brand-specific tools.
